2007 Twinning Conference in Abingdon |

|
Tuesday 27th November Delegates arrived from each of the twin towns. At 4pm, the guests, hosts and twinning representatives were met and greeted by the Mayor. In the evening the Chair of the Society hosted a welcome party for them. Wednesday 28th November Delegates met all day in the Guildhall with presentations from each twinning society and discussions about a coordinated future programme. In the evening, Abingdon Society members were invited to join the visitors for the town's Extravaganza: Meeting at 6.15 pm in the Christmas card shop in the Guildhall Council Chambers for mince pies and mulled wine, they then watched the parade and fireworks. Afterwards, the Mayor took the guests for an Indian buffet. Thursday 29th November The morning started with a conference session to finalise the programme for the next five years. A lunch and afternoon visit to Hendred was organised for delegates and partners. A final, feedback session at 4pm completed the conference before the evening's Formal Dinner in the Guildhall. Summary The Twinning Conference was a great success; a lot of things were achieved. They were very keen on the 5 year plan which was put forward. The other Twin Towns came with their own plans over this period. We are sure they all enjoyed the programme that was organised for them. They all returned home satisfied that progress had been achieved. We must thank the Delegates from Colmar, Lucca, Sint Niklaas, Argentan, Schongau and Abingdon, Virginia. Also represented were East Hendred twinning, Vale of White Horse and members of the Society. There is a full report of the programme hosted by
